This first week of Advent has been full of fun and festive excitement at Abberley Primary School. Pupils have been busy decorating Christmas trees around the school, as well as creating their own special decorations for the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Church. Using brilliant engineering skills and plenty of creativity, the children also helped to construct a stunning illuminated nativity scene that now proudly lights up our school grounds, spreading Christmas joy to everyone who passes by.

Congratulations to this week’s Headteacher Award winners. Both girls have shown exceptional enthusiasm for reading and have gone above and beyond in their homework, producing thoughtful and detailed entries in their reading journals. Their dedication and love of learning has been outstanding.
We are excited to announce the winner of our Christmas Gonk Competition.
A big well done to Eleana and Freddie, whose creative design and festive flair really stood out. Thank you to all the children who took part. Your imaginative and colourful entries brought plenty of Christmas cheer to the village hall.
This week, we are delighted to celebrate the children who have been awarded our Vision Certificate for truly embodying what it means to love, grow and flourish together. These pupils have shown kindness in their actions, perseverance in their learning, and a wonderful ability to support and uplift those around them. We are incredibly proud of the positive example they set within our school community.

After their second night at Oakerwood, the children woke up refreshed and ready for the day. They enjoyed another hearty breakfast before packing up their belongings. Before heading out to play Capture the Flag, they had the chance to visit the gift shop and spend some money on mementos from their residential.
The morning was filled with Capture the Flag and other fun team-building games that got everyone working together. After a final lunch of chicken burgers, the children had a final exciting treat: a bounce on an inflatable course! Finally, they boarded the coach and returned to school, full of memories from a fantastic trip.
