Kingfishers experiment with sound
In science, Kingfishers have been experimenting with sound.
Our current learning for science is about sound and hearing. Today, the children have been experimenting with how to change a sound and being able to explain why the sound changes. They began by investigating how to change the vibrations and therefore the sound by using a ruler. They had different lengths overhanging the table edge before flicking it to observe and listen to what happens. They then used glass bottles and water to investigate changing sounds. They had to order the bottles from highest to lowest pitch and identify why some were higher or lower than others. After they'd explained their thoughts scientifically, they created some music in their groups and figured out how to change a note by changing the water level.
