Our vision

We are proud that our school is a church school and seek for our community to be founded upon the moral principles which Christianity shares. However, we also recognise individual choice and freedom for those of different faiths and those of none.

Our vision is for all pupils to leave Abberley as well-rounded individuals, with attitudes and skills required to succeed in life and feel empowered to be positive agents of change within our community and in the world.

Our vision is based on Paul’s writings to the Ephesians:

Ephesians 3:17-19

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Our vision has three aspects:

1. We seek to enable children to be rooted and grounded in love; we will feel loved and show love to others in our school and in our families. We seek to feel a connection with the school, the staff and the community and feel motivated to give back to those around them. We show our love for each child by educating and enriching them in a way that gives them a good depth of knowledge and developing the skills and attitudes to grow in confidence to succeed.

2. We strive to instil in pupils the power to comprehend; we seek for pupils to be connected to the world, the past and the future through a deep and rich knowledge that is woven together and connected in order for everyone to make sense of their lives, prepare and plan for their future and embrace every opportunity open to them. Through our curriculum, children will be taught to practise applying the skills necessary to demonstrate an age-related expertise in a wide range of subjects. We will seek to grow in our understanding of all that is around us.

3. Filled with the fullness of God; we want our pupils to be connected to themselves and their peers and to care deeply about the enrichment opportunities.  We want to help develop the resilience, habits, interests and hobbies that will enable pupils to flourish as people in a connected world. As self-aware and confident people, they will be grounded and have the intellectual freedom to explore and challenge ideas about the big questions.

The vision and values of the school forms the foundation and the rationale behind all that we do and will be considered in the formation of school policy and procedure and monitored for its impact.

Our school values are:

We also recognise that there are key attributes and skills which make a successful and life-long learner. Through our school culture, curriculum and community, we seek to instil these attributes in those who work and learn at Abberley Parochial V.C. Primary School.

These learning attributes and key actions are:

Creativity – imagining, designing, constructing                   Reasoning – comparing, evaluating, explaining

Comprehension – summarising, interpreting, predicting   Curiosity – questioning, analysing, testing

Perseverance – experimenting, improving, modifying       Collaboration – communicating, sharing, compromising

Knowledge – recognising, identifying, describing

Our vision is inspired by the Church of England's Vision for Education, which can be found below.
