English:

LO: To plan and write an adventure story.

For your English lesson today, spend 5 minutes watching this clip- http://takingflightfilm.com/

When you have watched this clip, think about the three characters, especially the dad.

The dad suddenly remembers an adventure he had with the grandpa many years ago which was to the Moon. I would like you to write an adventure story about where they went and what they did in the red wagon. Think imaginatively, your adventure could be to anywhere... make it exciting! 

Think about these questions to help you: 

-Where did they go? 

-What did they see when they got there? 

-Do they get out of the red wagon and explore further? 

- Do they meet any other characters? Aliens? Animals? Talking plants? 

- Is there a problem getting back home? 

- Do you keep the adventure a secret? Does another member of the family ask where you've been? How do your characters deal with this? 

Use the Planning Story Mountain attached to this page to help you. 

You should spend 15 minutes planning if you need it and at least 30-40 minutes writing.

Remembering- Paragraphs, punctuation, smilies/metaphors- there is also a 'help sheet' attached at the bottom of this page if you need a hand planning your story. 

If we were in school, I'd expect to spend 2 lessons planning, writing and editing the story. So take your time and make it the best it can be. If you'd like to, you could type it out using j2e, then I will be able to read it and mark it for you.

For this maths lesson, you will be recapping your understanding of unit and non-unit fractions and explaining to your parents what the differences are between them. You will also be introduced to fractions with denominators other than 2, 3 and 4.

This is your first lesson working with decimals so take it as slowly as you need to. You will have worked with fractions before so use this knowledge to help you. Remember, the denominator is how many parts something is divided into and the numerator is how many of those parts you have. 

If we divide a square into 10 pieces, then each piece is worth 1/10.

If we divide a square into 100 pieces, then each piece is worth 1/100.
