Friday 27th March

We made it to the final day of home-learning for this week. Well done to everyone, it has been great to see lots of you completing the work and even submitting it online for us to see. It makes us so happy to help you continue your education, even in these difficult circumstances.

On Wednesday, Miss Hughes asked you to vote on which book you would like to hear and see added to the 'Stories' section of our school website. The results are in... (dramatic pause...)

Considering we only have 36 pupils in our class, there were a lot more votes than this- maybe I still need to brush up on my poll creating skills!

The winner is 'A Series of Unfortunate Events- The Bad Beginning'. This is a book that was first read to me when I was 7 years old in year 3, by my teacher Miss Lamont, who was an inspiration to me (one of the reasons I wanted to become a teacher is because of her!) and I am still in touch with now. I loved the book so much, I went on to get the whole series. My dad would take me to the book shop with my pocket money every time a new one came out. I hope to see lots of you reading the next books in the series when we're all back at school.

The first chapter will be posted on Monday.

Miss Hughes :-) x

Learning for today.

English: LO: To perform a piece of poetry.

Below you will see a video of Michael Rosen (author of We're going on a bear hunt), who has some amazing tips on performing poetry for other people. Watch this video and then perform the poem attached at the bottom of the page. You don't have to do it all as it is quite long, but give a couple of verses a try remembering all that Michael has taught you!

Maths:

You have all worked really hard this week, especially as you were learning things that were new to you. It is lovely to see some of your work on J2e, so thank you for sharing it. If you share your work, it means that I can comment on it and give you some advice if you need it. Hopefully you have been discussing your work with your parents and learning together! I do miss being with you and being able to work with you to grasp these new concepts and I hope the videos I have attached have helped you.

We are all doing the same maths task today. I have set up a Battle of the Bands on TTRS which will start at 9am today and finish at 12pm on Monday. You should have your log in details in the front of your Home Learning books but if you can't remember yours, go on to J2e and share a document with me and I'll send your details as soon as I can.

I was trying to think of a prize for the winning band. I have decided that I will play three 3 minute games for each member of the winning team. This should mean that (if my brain is switched on!) each person should get about 5000 coins.

Good luck!

* There are reports that the TTRS website is a little glitchy at the moment as there are so many children trying to access it so you might find the website quite slow so I have added an additional activity.

Please complete one page of your Mental Arithmetic book. If you are able to, mark your work with a parent, adult or older sibling at home.

Art:

LO: Learn to draw a Gregosaurus with Rob Bidduplh.

Rob Biddulph is an international, best selling author and illustrator. He's the illustrator for the promotions for World Book Day. Here is a video to follow along to draw your very own 'Gregosaurus'. Take a picture of them and upload them to j2e!

SOMETHING EXTRA-

As lots of you know- I was born in Chester and grew up just outside Liverpool. I spent a lot of my childhood summers exploring and learning at Chester Zoo and loved it there- it's such a fantastic zoo. If your parents have Facebook- Chester Zoo are doing a virtual 'Day at the Zoo' which starts at 10am this morning and will be featuring tours and talks about many animals-

10am Red Pandas

11am Rothschild's Giraffes

12pm Asian Elephants

1pm Butterflies

2pm Sun Bears

2:30pm Sumatran tigers

2:45pm Humboldt Penguins

4pm Aquarium

Go to 'Chester Zoo' on Facebook for a fantastic virtual day out at the zoo.

Enjoy!
