Tuesday 5th May
English: L.O: To create imagery and write a poem based on the structure of another.Activity 1: Listen to Chapter 23 of 'Pig Heart Boy' on the Learning--> Stories page of the website. Activity 2: Michael Rosen is my all time favourite poet. His poems are fun and often nonsensical but they are always fun to read! Read one of his poems below (it is also attached as a file at the end of the page): Activity 3: In this poem, Michael has used the idea of something small lost inside something bigger. Try creating and listing some images/items of your own which are small and lost and confused in something much bigger that itself e.g. 'I’m an apple in a pie' or 'I’m a star in the Milky Way'... Think about how each object might feel. Activity 4: Try to put your images/ items into paragraphs/ stanzas of your own just like Michael has in his poem. It can always be fun to rhyme but a good poem does not always need to. Share your poems on J2E if you wish! |

Geography L.O: To explore where in the world earthquakes occur.A couple of weeks ago, we explored the theory of plate tectonics and you explained this theory in your own words. If you missed this activity OR if you don't remember this lesson, watch this quick, 2 minute video:
We learnt that the Earth is divided into 7 main plates which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. These 7 plates are what makes up the word's outer layer (the crust) and they are constantly moving apart, towards each other and past each other. Activity 1: Watch this interesting video which tells you what happens to the Earth's crust as the plates move in these 3 very different ways. Pay special attention to what happens when th plates move past each other!
Activity 2: Open up the file below titled 'The Ring of Fire' to read all about why this area of the world is known by this name. Activity 3: Open up the attachment 'The Ring of Fire: Plates'. This activity will involve some Internet research and requires you to name the plates you can identify around The Ring of Fire (answers attached). Activity 4 (Challenge): Attached below is a file titled 'Types of Tectonic Movement'. When you open up this file, you will see a table with many gaps and a group of words at the bottom of the page. Your task is to put the correct term into the correct box. This activity may involve you conducting some research for yourself. |
P.E.At a time where we all find ourselves indoors for the most of the day, we should bare in mind how important daily exercise is for our health and wellbeing, particularly our mental health. If you are able to, take your device somewhere with plenty of space (even the garden on a nice sunny day) or clear some space in front of your computer and follow along with Joe Wicks for a 30 minute workout. I will definitely be doing the same! OR alternatively, Mrs Lightfoot has uploaded some very exciting links to other online PE sessions which you can access by following this link: Alternative P.E.
