Today is Thursday so it is Guided Reading Day.  I hope you got on okay with the links to the Big Cat website last week because we are going to be using the website again today for our reading activities.

Let's recap our number bonds to 6 using the video below.

Today we are going to be looking at number bonds to 7. 

Do you think there will be more or less number bonds to 7 than number bonds to 6?

Using your counters see if you can complete the number bonds to 7 jigsaw sheet attached below.  For an extra challenge try writing down all your number sentences.

Year 1.

Today we are going to move on from looking at number bonds to looking at fact families. 

We already know that we can put our number bonds in pairs because it doesn't matter which way we add our numbers.

For example          7  +  3  =  10         and       3  +   7   =  10   

These two addition number sentences form the first part of our fact family.

Now we need to write 2 subtraction number sentences using the same numbers.  Remember in a subtraction the biggest number always come first.

So we have         10  -  3   =    7                and            10  -   7   =  3

These are the opposite of the addition number sentences.  We call these inverse number sentences.

Together these 4 number sentences make up the fact family.

7  +  3  = 10

3  +  7  = 10

10  -  3  = 7

10  -  7  = 3

Now it's your turn.  See if you can write the fact family for the number sentence 

6  +  4  = 10

Topic.

On Sunday it is Father's Day.  This is a day when we celebrate the special male (boys and men) people in our lives who care for us.  It might be a Daddy or a Grandad or an Uncle or a special friend.  Today we are going to make a card to send them on Sunday to tell them how much we love them.

Have  a go at creating this great monkey card.  The instructions are included below.
