Monday 13th July
Hello Wrens
I hope you have had a good weekend. I can hardly believe this is our last week of term. It has certainly been a different summer term this year. The children, whether they have returned to school or been carrying on with our home learning, have been amazing. They should all be very proud of themselves.
Don't forget this week is the week to measure your sunflowers for our competition. Hopefully they have grown well with all the rain. You need to send in a photograph of your sunflower with the measurement and the tallest one will win a prize. Mickey Thompson and Purvis were feeling a bit sad because lots of their sunflowers got eaten by the snails. Fortunately though the vegetable patch is doing well - look at the beans!
English.
Do you remember our Supertato story from Friday?
Well today we are going to be thinking about the characters in that book. Let's have a look at some of the pictures from the book and see if we can imagine what Supertato and the other characters might be saying.
What do you think cucumber might be saying in this picture?
We could add a speech bubble to picture to tell us.
Can you think of a speech bubble for this picture?
Now it's your turn. Watch the video below where Sue Hendra and Paul Linnett show you how to draw Supertato.
Now using the speech bubbles attached below can you think what Supertato might be saying.
There is also a colouring sheet and a spot the difference for you to have a go at attached below. Can you write speech bubbles for these pictures?
Maths.
Today in maths we are going to be starting with a game of Hit the Button using the link below. There are lots of different types of games you can try, for example doubles, halves and number bonds.
Now we are going to have a go at some activities to practise all the maths skills we have learnt this year.
Reception - print off the maths activity sheets below. There are lots of different ones to choose from.
Year 1 - print off the place value mystery in the palace kitchen. See if you can use your maths knowledge to solve the mystery and see who has been causing trouble in the kitchen.
Topic.
Today for topic we are going to be creating our own Supertato characters. You will need a potato or similar vegetable, some coloured paper or fabric, pipe cleaners, straws, pompoms, paints, glue and if you have them googley eyes.
Now it's time to get creative. You need to design and create your own superhero vegetable character. You can use paints, paper or fabric to design his superhero costume. What will you call your character? What will his or her super power be?
Have a look at the photographs below for some ideas.
We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Best wishes
Mrs Lightfoot (and Purvis and Mickey Thompson)
