In our assembly, we talked about the famous phrase 'take care of the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves'. The children shared their experiences of saving money. We then related this to the famous saying by St David 'take care of the little things'. We talked about what these little things might be. The children suggested friendship, kindness, family, nature. Some found it hard to get away from the literal meaning of little things, suggesting hamsters or other small animals. However, much like the pennies taking care of the pounds, the little things we do each and every day determine the character that we become in our lives.
