Today is Thursday so it is Guided Reading Day. We are going to using the Big Cat website again today for our reading activities.
Follow the link below to the Big Cat home page and follow the instructions to log onto Collins Connect to access their e-book library.
Click on the Collins Big Cat e-books section. The books are sorted by colour band.
Reception.
Easier - Pink A. Read "In the Garden" and then click on resources to download the activity associated with this text.
Harder - Red A. Read "Tec and the cake" (on page 2) and then click on resources to download the activity associated with this text.
Additional activity - have a go at the animal reading comprehension activity attached below.
Year 1.
Easier - Yellow. Read "Night animals" (on page 2) and then click on resources to download the activity associated with this text.
Harder - Green. Read " Scary Hair" and then click on resources to download the activity associated with this text.
Additional activity - have a go at the 6 key words reading comprehension activity attached below. Parents - please be aware there are several sheets and you only need to print and complete your favourite.
Maths.
Reception.
We've been doing really well at learning our number bonds to 10 this week. Let's warm up by singing our song. The powerpoint is attached below although hopefully you are beginning to learn the words now.
We are going to have a go at playing a Jungle Number bond game. Click the link below.
Now have a go at the ladybird activity attached below. Choose either green, orange or red ladybirds, cut them out and see if you can match the dots to make a total of 10. Can you write the number sentence to go with your ladybird?
Parents - the red ladybirds are the hardest as they do not already have the dots printed on them. The children have to draw them!
Year 1.
Yesterday we were adding two numbers using the counting on strategy. Let's warm up by working through the powerpoint below to practise our skills.
Then have a go at working through the fluency activities set out below. There are 3 different levels of challenge. The numbers are smaller than yesterday but today we are practising recognising and setting out our work in different ways. There is also a problem solving activity if you would like an extra challenge.
Topic.
So far this week we have been thinking about real life superheroes. Today we are going to thinking about fictional (made-up) superheroes instead
.
Made-up superheroes usually have special powers, like super strength or turning invisible or flying and they appear in films, books and comics. Usually the superhero is a really good character who helps people and fights crime but sometimes you can have an evil superhero!
Lots of fictional superheroes are really well known. Take our powerpoint quiz below to see how many superheroes you know.
Who is your favourite? In your home learning book draw a picture of your favourite superhero and then write a sentence (Reception) or sentences (Year 1) telling us why you like them.
