Governance
Abberley Parochial V.C. Primary is fortunate to have a skilled and supportive governing body who oversee all aspects of the school.
The full governing body meets at least termly. The core functions of the governing body are to ensure that the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined, that the headteacher performs their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school and the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources. The governing body and its governors must act with integrity, objectivity and honesty and in the best interests of the school and be open about the decisions they make and the actions they take. The governing body also has legislative responsibility and strategic oversight for the school’s safeguarding arrangements.
The Resources Committee meets at least termly and considers finance, staffing and building matters. The chair of the committee is Austin Rodriguez.
The School Improvement Committee also meets at least termly and considers curriculum, standards and general purposes matters. The chair of the committee is Marine Mugnier.
Our Chair of Governors is Jane Whittenbury. If you would like to get in touch then please do so via the clerk to governors on 01299 896332 (Fridays) or via email at hcoleman@abberley.worcs.sch.uk.
'School leaders, including governors, set the right priorities for the school. Rigorous checks on the progress of these priorities have brought about significant recent improvements. Governors hold the headteacher to account effectively for the performance of the school. In addition, the diocese and the local authority provide highly effective support and challenge. The school is now moving forward at pace.' Ofsted March 2025
